Shubert Chokecherry

Description

Unique ornamental, with clusters of white flowers. Pyramidal growth habit. New foliage emerges green, then matures to purple in summer for great summer color contrast. Available in Single and Multi-Stem. Provides shade. Sometimes called Purpleleaf Chokecherry. Clusters of reddish fruit (1/3″ diameter cherries) which mature in fall to a dark purple. Fruit is very astringent, hence the common name. Fruit may be used in sauces, jellies and preserves, however. Fruits are attractive to wildlife.
