Hotwing Maple

Features blazing red seeds in late summer, and fiery fall leaf colors. Dark green foliage. Above average maple tolerance of drought and alkaline conditions. Great for home landscapes where something smaller and showy is desired. Discovered as a chance-seedling found growing in the production fields of Fort Collins Wholesale Nursery in 1993. It stood out from all the other Tatarian maples for six weeks every summer, with breath-taking scarlet red samaras (helicopter seed pods) contrasting with the rich green foliage giving it an appearance of being in bloom. Upright spreading growth habit.
