Bright golden bark retained all year, makes for great winter color. Green leaves are narrow, lanced and toothed, and usually turn yellow in the fall. Needs full sun. Semi-weeping habit. Prefers moist or wet soil. Is sometimes grown for the decorative wood for use in crafts. Our seed source located in the High River, Alberta area. Fast grower. Great for privacy, shelterbelts, windbreaks and screening. Provides shade. Native to Europe, Central Asia, and northern Africa. The botanical variety name is derived from Latin and means egg yolk. Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils. Suitable pH is acid and neutral soils.
